A Grand Forks teenager who has battled leukemia since 2008 soon will be swimming with dolphins and enjoying Mexico’s warm weather, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Brittany Dvorak said she had two ideas when asked what she most wanted to do: Take a family vacation on a cruise ship or see a Broadway play.
She passed by New York City’s infamous theater strip in 2008 while on a trip with her grandparents, but didn’t get a chance to see a play. Dvorak said she wanted to see “Wicked,” but it’s not on Broadway anymore, so it made her choice easier.
“I wanted to do the cruise first and then swim with the dolphins,” she said.
She recently found out her wish would be granted, and now, she’s getting set for a weeklong vacation that starts on Valentine’s Day. Her parents, Scott and Julie, and younger siblings, Kylie and Brady, will join her on the trip, just about the entire family.
